Your opinion on ORGAN DONATION

Recently, the news of a local respected Mirian needing liver transplant (here) gave me a wake up call! So, I would like to know what you guys and gals think about organ donation? As we know, there are two general type of donation,

  1. Donation that is done when alive (eg. liver, bone marrow, kidney, etc)
  2. Donation that is done after death/brain death (eg. heart, cornea, etc)

Would you sign up as an Organ Donor? What’s your view on being an incomplete ‘body’?

Besides, I remembered early this year or last year, there were one or two heart transplant in Msia which gathered large media interest. If not mistaken, this young girl had heart transplant two times. The first heart was rejected (I ll try to search for article on this news). For me, it’s such a waste, the heart may had been suitable for another patient. I know there’a always probability of organ rejection, but did the authorities neglect certain procedures?
Anyway, what’s your view on such case?

Well, I think blood donation can be excluded in this discussion since it’s very common and for sure, its advantages are widely acknowledged.

there r many reason y the organ is rejected by the body.

i dun dare to donation organ during my life time.
sakit wor during recovery period.
then ur employer may not able to give ur extra off day to recover.

after death, would love to donate every i can.
our body will rot oso even if we enclosed in a good coffin.

donate the organs then go for cremation.
put the ashes in ur room or in the house.
u’ll live forever.

where 2 get organ donation card other than hospital?

Haroldz, that’s a good planning for after-death. Haha. I very well agree with what you said.
For registration, can try here

bump… give opinion eh… =)

Organ donation is a very good cause. For organ donation after death, you need to inform your family members if you plan to donate your organ (that is when you sign up as a donor). For organ donation when you are still alive, there are only certain parts only that you can donate. I think organ donation probably still not that “popular” among malaysia people.

im an organ doner. After death la. Because I figured, i don’t need it after im gone so no point keeping it. might as well benefit others. I signed up for it when i was in curtin then a few mths after that then only told my parents. my mom was asking why then i said, not point keeping it what. then she was okay

i think organ rejection is not something than they can predict. even if they did all the necessary tests, there is still a small possibility it might be rejected.

I doubt they will just simply match patients to hearts right? Because the list is quite long i think so the patient must be chosen carefully.

i heard ppl say that a body Dead without complete is a not good sign.

That’s a very conservative thinking. I think most of the religions encourage their people to donate their organ when they have passed away. Like what have haroldz and coconutice had mentioned, there’s no point keeping the body when you are gone. So, why don’t donate those parts that still can be used to save other people’s life.

i heard oso modifying ur car is illegall too!

if u r religious then just follow ur faith.
if u half half one, just follow ur wish on a death bed.
if u r not religious at all, go donate la.
at least can pay 4 some sins u commint during life time…

m agree your view! but u help ppls and give life to the ppls for sure u at heaven got many pretty gal serving u lar!!

i will donate my organ…after me die lah…

Why not? Some parts of you will still be alive. That’s good right? Maybe that organ of yours will take over the person and you’ll be you again. In another person’s body.

can do a ‘trade-in’?

one brain, seldom used, mint condition,
looking for previously installed:
launguages (preferably w einglish),
& Phd in money laundering…

trade in???no need lah…already said ‘DONATE’ liao

Aha! that’s the saying that made me change my mind (My friend told me that) when I was about to sign up for organ donation.

I would donate but only for my close family members; I’m a selfish girl!

organ will bcome dust after we dead…just donate it and help ppl mah

i would do it for sure.i’ve seen shows where thousands of ppl were given a second chance at life because someone who left the world decided that he or she wanted to give someone else a life wen they are gone. i think that is soooo beautiful, such true love. imagine one day, the receiver could be anyone of us or someone we love. myths about organ donation and incomplete body departure…i just don’t buy it…how can one person who saves another person life be incomplete after their death? i believe God of all religions would praise us for it  if i could do something good after i m gone…what more to say, saving or prolonging someone’s life, i would do it…that person and the family would thank me for the rest of her/his life…and somehow…i feel that…i’ve lived forever…how good does that feel??? ok…enough said…i’m getting a bit boring and sentimental now haha…one way of the other, its a personal and individual decision… its better knowing than not knowing right

Where to sign up for this in miri?

Its up to you actually, what do you want. Of course, one will only donate his/her organs once he/she is pronounced DEAD.

Btw, organs are one of the HIGH demand “items” esp in Black Market, some are willing to pay, some are willing to sell, some are willing to kill, some are forced to donate . Scary, yes and it is real.
