MIRI: Malaysians especially Sarawakians are called to cooperate with enforcement agencies to protect the country from any act of terrorism.

In making the call, Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang, said it was the responsibility of all, regardless of their age, racial and religious background to work together with the government, in particular with enforcement agencies such as the police and National Security Council.

“As Malaysians, it is our responsibility to help in protecting our country from any kind of terrorism act. What happened in Indonesia recently could happen here too if we are not cautious,” he said when officiating at ‘Program Ceramah Minda’ held at Auditorium Pustaka (library) here yesterday.

Ahmad Lai also called on the public not to point fingers at the enforcement agencies as the role to protect the country lay not only on their shoulders but among all Malaysians.

The people, he said must not only cooperate with the enforcement agencies but also have full trust in them to do their job.

The talk touched on efforts in combating the threats from radical Islamic groups such as Al-Qaeda, Islamic State (IS) and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) in Malaysia, which was delivered by Supt Ahmad Norisham Ma’arus from Bukit Aman Special Branch.
