MIRI: A 21-year-old woman broke her left leg and suffered bruises on her face after she lost control of her car and rammed into a tree in front of the main entrance to Taman Bumiko.

In the 12.30pm accident yesterday, the victim was headed to the city centre on her own from Taman Awam when the accident occurred.

The impact of the crash caused the woman to be pinned to her seat.

Witnesses immediately called the hospital for an ambulance.

A team of eight firefighters from the Miri Fire Station were also dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.39pm.

It took them 15 minutes to extricate the victim.

Several personnel from the Civil Defence Department were also at the scene to assist.
