Woman among five held for drugs in police raid on house

MIRI: A tip-off from the public resulted in the arrest of five individuals at a house in Kampung Batu 8, Lambir yesterday morning.

The four men and a woman, aged in their 20s and 30s, were nabbed on suspicion of involvement in drug-related activities.

According to a source, the police raiding party first apprehended the woman and one of the men in one of the rooms of the house, before being led by the couple to the three other men in the house compound.

A subsequent inspection of the room uncovered a straw tube segment containing suspected Syabu, leading to all five individuals being hauled to Miri Central Police Station for further investigation.

Two of the suspects later tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing and abusing drugs, respectively.
