As for the rest of your questions, you might wanna browse thru BNM website for answers.

Thanks to your question, I just found out something ‘fishy’ in BNM published Central Bank of Malaysia Act 2009, Act 701. Strangely, Part VIII on Currency is ‘missing’.

Like it or not, the world now are using fiat currency. Its not back by anything. Its money because the govt said so and they can actually print as much as they want. Cash is Trash.

They are printed by specialized banknote printing companies, whereas the printing location is not disclosed.

For instance, the Singapore Dollar is printed by De La Rue in the United Kingdom.

The Malaysian Ringgit is printed by the Note Printing Australia (NPA) in Australia. A recent controversy has embarrassed NPA that its former managers have been charged with bribing officials in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam in order to win currency printing contracts.
