Two dropouts investigated for alleged rape of 15-year-old girl

MIRI: Miri police arrested two teenagers on Monday for the alleged rape of their teenage female friend at a budget hotel in town on Sept 15.

The suspects, aged 15 and 17, were rounded up in Permyjaya at about 12.40pm and taken to Miri Central Police Station (CPS) for investigation.

It was learnt that the duo who were school dropouts had checked into the budget hotel with the victim, a 15-year-old girl who was also a school dropout, and stayed overnight with her.

The incident was reported to the police by the victim’s family on Nov 19.

Miri police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat confirmed the case and that police are investigating it under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
