TV shops, suppliers kick off price war
PETALING JAYA: The prices for plasma and LCD screens are being slashed in anticipation of a rush by football fans to invest in better television sets for the FIFA World Cup.
Various price cuts, promotions and competitions to increase sales of television sets are already running at major electrical appliance stores such as Senheng, SenQ and HSL.
HSL sales assistant Lawrence Koh said many would buy bigger and better television sets just so that they could better enjoy the World Cup action.
Thats why even our suppliers like Sony, Toshiba, Sharp and Alba have lowered their prices, he added.
Senhengs Section 14, Petaling Jaya, branch manager Allez Tong said sales of television sets had gone up recently.
The sales of other products such as home theatre systems have also gone up. People buy them as they enhance the viewing experience, he added.
Electrical appliance manufacturers have also gotten into the act by taking advertisements in major newspapers to showcase their products and the discounts being offered.
