Transcend is no stranger to manufacturing storage accessories like RAM, SD cards and card reader like this versatile RDF9K2. It comes with the latest UHS-II interface to unleash the high speed performance of a UHS-II SD card, and is compatible with memory cards like CompactFlash, SD and microSD cards.
The RDF9K2 has a gloss black top and matte black sides and bottom. Thanks to its UHS-II compatibility and USB 3.1 connection, you can now transfer large images efficiently to your PC if you own a DSLR. Transcend claimed the read and write speeds of the RDF9 are up to 260MB/s and 190MB/s accordingly. And when paired with a 32GB Transcend’s UHS-II SD card, the RDF9 only takes 38 seconds to transfer a 8GB of video file. Wow, that is really fast.
The reader has a micro USB 3 plug on the back side and 3 different size slots in the front. The RDF9 supports for UHS-II SD cards in the full-size SD slot and also accepts UHS-I SDHC, SDXC and standard SD cards. Additional slots are provided for microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC, and CompactFlash cards.
Transcend advertises the RDF9K2 at 260 MB/s read and 190 MB/s write speeds. Using the Toshiba Exceria Pro UHS-II 16GB card the RDF9K2 reached a maximum 254.4 MB/s sequential read speed. This is close to the 260MB/s rating of the reader. With that speed, the card reader is capable to process high resolution video and RAW image transfers and post-production processing for professional photographers, videographers and graphic designers.
The RDF9K2 works with PC, Mac and Linux operating systems. There isn’t a whole lot more to say about this card reader. It is fast, reliable and affordable. It offers everything that most photographers need at about the fastest speeds possible today.
