Three journalists among four hurt in timber road mishap

MIRI: Four people including three journalists who were heading from Miri to Bario highlands sustained minor injuries after their four wheel-drive vehicle fell into a 30-metre deep ravine near a timber camp.

In the 1pm incident, the 4WD was passing through Camp 10 along the timber road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road into a forested ravine.

All four victims comprising the driver, two women reporters from Sarawak Tribune and Sin Chew and a male reporter from Borneo Post managed to crawl out of the wreckage.

They were on their way to Bario for the Kelabit festival called Pesta Nukenen.

Miri mayor Adam Yii said the four sustained minor injuries and were sent to Miri Hospital by timber workers.
