The new traffic light at bintang plaza junction

Everytime when i come to this traffic light junction, i have a feeling that something is not right in logistic. When we come from pujut main road, when light is in Red (stop) in straight heading to bomba while there is green light for other car making turn into town or U-turn to bintang plaza. The issue here is when other car is making turn and u-turn why would the straight light is in Red?

hmm… last time is straight and u turn light together. maybe they want to do some testing? coz this method is mainly for straight road priority.

cuz car in the opposite side is making their u-turn to the bomba side?

i have issue with this traffic light as well, you know when your driving straight toward the bomba, its impossible to see way in front what light is green or red and how long is the queue because this traffic light is just after a corner … they should install something like a warning light before the corner just like in brunei … telling ppl to slow down for the red light just around the corner … = ) … or to press on instead of slowly down in the corner… what you think ?

so much for the engineer to think. Should have 2 light instead of all in 1. So that user will not confuse.
Making U turn back to Bomba also troublesome for big car. 2 lane road…
Where to complaint hah??

You are right. I also once kenat when driving straight to airport, when i see ppl doing turn in green but did not realise it was Red for straight route. Ended up activated car ABS and stop right in front of the yellow box line in the middle.

The traffic light coming from the other direction is also RED for straight traffic and GREEN for U-Turn-ing back to Bomba/Airport direction. The wait time is much shorter now than when they had the original light system in.

At the end of the day, this road should be three lanes each way with all the traffic in town. Heck, it should be three lanes all the way from the airport all the way to Senadin. That would help ease some of the congestion during peak times.

Take off the traffic lights as they said there is not required to place the traffic light after the flyover before? No idea

Haha… if they remove the traffic lights, the people wanting to turn into town/Bintang will have to wait forever during peak times. That or cause accidents when someone tries to rush the turn.

Or perhaps they need another by-pass from town to Senadin area…via a tunnel under Canada Hill. =)

GTSW20… write a comment to MCC…

The traffic light is good to be there coz it will ease for ppl from town to get out or making u turn to Bintang Plaza. Did xperience hard to u turn to Bintang Plaza and jammed at town during peak hours…

for mcc, they only have 2 concern;

  1. do for the sake of doing it so that less human complain about it.

  2. economy concern.

like that loo.

Is tis possible? haha… Write comment to Miri Cyber Cafe?

oh…there is a U-turn made available for the opposite side back to bomba. in that case, that makes sense.

For those heading towards the fire station and beyond, a diversion lane should be built on the left bypassing the traffic lights. A single lane is adequate plus an emergency lane so in event of a vehicle breaking down, it will not cause any obstruction. This lane should have the road divider stretching till somewhere near to the Science Museum junction. This will help the flow of traffic going towards the fire station and beyond. Now all traffic are forced to stop on red. I wonder whether those tasked to look into this traffic flow around that area did a proper study. At least they should get feedback from the public on their proposed system so improvement can be made before the actual plan is carried out. Looks like a hasty and piece meal decision. Create a solution and end up creating another problem or more problems.

Yes, agreed it is not a suitable place to locate the lights as it is at a bend where your forward view is blocked by the trees on the roadside. maybe some of these trees can be re-positioned to provide a clear view of the traffic lights.

i also kena one time at there. im heading to mosjaya, the light turn red then i stop. suddenly behind me i hear the tyre screaming(i tot got someone do drifting)then i standby to launch on the fuel pedal in case he cant stop…luckly he did it. phieww…

I experienced once too. It was green light (for u-turn) but I was actually heading straight but suddenly I noticed that going straight is red light. Sudden stop lor coz the other side also u-turn. & my small kelisa hv to stop inside the ‘yellow box’.

lucky for you, i had this once too, lucky i wasn’t hit as well, when i heard they tire sound, the rear view mirror looks so scary

If you’re driving on the left lane - from far, when the lights are red for straight and green for U-turn, you can easily mistake the green U-turn lights for a go light.

Just a week ago those lights stopped working too. I thought these are new lights - why do traffic lights always break down? Other commonly-found-broken-down culprits include the lights at the Bypass / Riam and the lights in front of Pacific Orient Hotel.

You should go down and tell him to change his brake pad and disc. Make it more power to stop! lol
