Some pics I took yesterday at Appetite Park Taman Selera. Click on them to get (not much of) a description. The real reason I went there is to take a pic of how the beach had eroded.
Guess they don’t bother about it anymore… hey… do u think Miri is so big until no one from MCC notice it…the sad part is here… … sure they know… but doesn’t want to work on it…
Speaking of erosion, I took this photo on Feb of 1999 at the beach of then RR Hotel. I heard it’s all covered by rock barrier now and water is several feet below, which mean, the beach you saw in the photo is completely gone…
Sorry to dissapoint u Keys, if MCC have not start any thing or planning since yesterday, don;t think Taman Selera have that long too go. Not only Taman Selera, the Miri Golf Club at Kampung Melayu, also face the same danger.
You know what, why don;t MCC have dialogues with the people about their concerns. Set a date, time and venue. A place where the normal people can voice out their concerns.
Not during election time thing. Just 2 reporters enough. One from Chinese and the other English.
I think they should select certain groups of people (RT Chairmans, Chamber members and maybe non-profit organization members to attend as bringing any Tom, D ick and Harry would not be any more useful though. Have a geological expert talk about this to the general public, and what we can do, what their views are, and what the world situation is like (e.g. is this only a Miri problem or worldwide?) etc.
Nice photo key.
Yeah, even the newer Baram road is having erosion problems as well.
Really?! Now what? move the road further in? or create another rock barrier?
Sea levels are rising world-wide, albeit slowly but surely, caused by melting of huge ice glaciers in the poles. Low-lying locations that are fully exposed to the elements, as the taman is, will eventually be submerged, unless a mega-zillion dollar project like the Zuider Zee in Holland is replicated. Just wishful thinking here!
Used to have to walk 1/4 mile to get to the water at low tide!
Ian, why I feel that you were sad when you took those photos? Not like the typical you at all…
There must be some other reason besides erosion problem… are you okay?
Err, I’m fine. What gave you that idea? It’s just that I was in a hurry to take some of these pics and then shot a few more for the New Year since I’m there already. Was looking for something to blog about and show people how things have changed.
