Streamyx Problem

Hi guys.

I have one PC and one Laptop at home to connect to the streamyx and I always use PC to
connect to the Internet, sometimes use my laptop. FYI, I don’t have wireless modem which
means that I connect to modem directly via cable.

One day, my PC cannot connect to the Streamyx. Fortunately, my laptop still can connect.
Also, I noticed that some configuration in my PC is different from my laptop especially in
“PPP adapter Streamyx” setting. Below is the ipconfig that I get from my PC & my Laptop.

actually do you know that you can create your own wifi connected from your laptop. you can buy a usb wireless adapter and setup the wireless connection from your laptop and then both ur laptop and pc can online.

wanted to know how to setup, google up “ad hoc connection”

This problem is likely to be streamyx connection because the ip does not look normal. Try to turn off you streamyx modem for about 30-60 seconds, then turn it on again and wait for the adsl signal to become stable.

I suggest you also contact streamyx support and have them reset your port.

It is not the modem having issue here since I can connect my laptop to the internet using the same cable without any problem. I also notice that I have weird IP address when I connect my PC. Btw, is there anyway to change the IP back to normal?

Bro, i dont have wifi router at home since i only using my PC that always connect to streamyx modem. But the problem is, I only can connect my laptop using the same cable to the internet & my pc is totally can’t.

Do you dial to streamyx when using laptop?

are u manually connecting it? or does it auto-connect ?

Last time i had this problem , i had to use manual connect :

  1. Go to Control Panel ( Windows 7 )
  2. Network & Sharing center
  3. Set up a connection > Click Connect to the Internet > Broadband ( PPPoE )
  4. Enter your Streamyx user & pass , eg : testing@streamyx ( dont add .com at the back. )
  5. Then try connect…

Yes. But now no need to dial manually anymore since I already found a way to make it connected automatically…

this is some basic setting to get the autodail modem to work with the pc… if u still cannot connect to the internet… please configure your modem…the important thing u should know…

Modem IP ?? <== technically modem use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254
Your Pc ? <=== does your ip and gateway are the set properly?? Ip is your internet protocol (if don`t know… lets just say that your Lesen plate keta… u can set it anynumber u like… but take note though… 1st 2nd and 3rd number must be the same as your modem IP ex. your pc=192.168.1.xx | Your Modem=192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask <=== well this one… just set it to 255.255.255.0 since alot user using this… XD
Default Gateway <=== your modem IP
DNS should be use 202.188.0.133 and 192.168.1.5

192.168.1.5 is not a DNS I think… It’s your own local device IP address…

Anyways Streamyx DNS is (202.188.0.133 and 202.188.1.5)

For those who wants to bypass any filtering or ‘faster’/‘safer’ DNS can opt for Google DNS(8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS(208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220)
