MIRI: Miri police have arrested a man suspected of having attacked a female cashier at a petrol station here during a robbery.
The incident happened at about 7pm on Sunday (July 22) at the Senadin commercial-housing estate in Kuala Baram district near the Miri-Brunei border.
Miri police confirmed they arrested the suspect early Monday (July 23).
The robbery-cum-attack was caught on closed-circuit camera.
The female clerk was attacked with what looks like a parang (machete).
Her father, who was in a car waiting for her, was also attacked when he tried to come to her aid.
The victim has been warded at the Miri Hospital while the suspect has been remanded in the central police station lock-up, pending further investigation.
The police have classified the case as assault-cum-robbery.
