KUCHING: Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has been urged to reconsider his plan to step down in the next two or three years.
Infrastructure Development and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin said Taib should serve his full five-year term as the people supported him.
You should serve another five years, see out the term. The people have given you the mandate and nobody in their right mind can ask you to step down, Manyin told Taib in his speech at the Dayak Bidayuh National Associations (DBNA) Gawai gathering on Wednesday.
Prior to the state election in April, Taib had said he would initiate a leadership transition by mid-term. Although Taib has not given a definite deadline since, he has been openly saying that the handover was within two to three years.
More recently, Movement of Change Sarawak, a loose organisation comprising mostly opposition supporters, called on Taib to step down before the year end. The call was made despite PBB, which is helmed by Taib, winning all 35 seats the party contested in.
No other Barisan Nasional party in the country has PBBs 100% winning streak, which was also achieved in the 2006 state election.
Outsiders have no right to ask you to step down, Manyin continued, The Bidayuhs, for example, fully support your leadership.
All six Bidayuh majority seats in the election were won by Barisan.
Manyin is PBB vice-president and has served in various cabinet positions. Manyin is also DBNA adviser.
On Bidayuh progress, Manyin said the community had now moved on from rural to mostly semi-urban development.
Decades ago our concerns were on basic infrastructure. Now our concerns are on better housing and higher income. Today, the Bidayuhs consist of highly educated leaders, and we must unite to face bigger challengers.

i think taking 2-3 years to step down is a bit too long. if he is sincere, he should handover his post to a new guy within a year. don’t tell me they don’t have a succession plan until now and need 2-3 years for the handover??

i wonder how much taib pay manyin to say those words…
LOL

Manyin, you want to be CM after Taib complete his term and after he has transfered all his money out of the country is it?

He probably paid Michael to say that.

so “angkat” ah

this has already been said since b4 election day by opposition leader, go check youtube, or even FB, where ppl spreading the talk.

U think if the youknowwho gonna retire even after he won the election, mid-term ke, full-term ke, apprentice or not, u gonna be very very very naive. till the day youknowwho die maybe, retired then.

the rakyat who vote for youknowwho, (dunno how many of them, sincerely, i don’t even remember the KAMPUNG’s name where he’s nominated already and what is the population there, how much are voting for youknowwho).

Whenever sarawak still got ppl like THIS, youknowwho can always say got rakyat (really dunno how many of them) support, cannot step down, see what happen to our beloved Dr G now…macam-macam isu dah keluar after he failed.

end story, this guy will never step down lah, step down liao got many ppl want to kill him…

LOL

Micheal Manyin is not the voice of Sarawakian. he’s just voicing for Barang Naik party. Pekmo has been in power for too long already. Even broke Tun Mahathir record of 22 years serving as PM. Pekmo’s currently entering his 30 years as CM. One of the longest serving CM in Malaysia.

also one of the most ruthless and useless ones…

he has made a pledge that he will “serve” sarawak till the day he dies.

Correction…

[quote=“DMsia”]Correction…

can’t blame him. the people of sarawak did voted him into office. PBB did swept all the seats they contested. not even lost one seat. the people just love PBB, and they even love taib mahmud more. so what if he sucks til sarawak die or he die first, either way he still win. and quit being delusional about some divine intervention or civil movement that is going to overthrow him. it’s not going to happen. cos the election we had is very clear to us oredi.

taib mahmud is going to die in ripe old age…

taib has a very good karma lol…even mubarak or other corruption star also not that “kuat”…proud of Malaysia
