SENIOR OFFICER, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT

The Senior Officer, International Student Support is accountable for the implementation, coordination and delivery of administrative services for international students and advancement of internationalization of Curtin Malaysia Campus. This position exists to oversee the overall process of the international students in terms of student activities, visa processing and renewals, compilation and monitoring of attendance and results, insurance processing and renewals, as well as other administrative requirements and support provision to international students.

The staff is required to be independent and proactive in solving problems and being able to operate according to priorities. This position also requires the incumbent to possess a high level of analytical skills, problem resolution, negotiation, communication, records management, interpretation and advice on policy and procedures.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the team in International Division Office.
  • Manage student records to ensure compliance with Ministry of Higher Education requirement.
  • Responsible for Student visa, attendance and insurance.
  • Manage and prepare documentations for audits.
  • Develop and implement activities for International Student Support Group.
  • Mobility and student exchange programs.

Selection Criteria:

  • At least three (3) years of working experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to be receptive to, and anticipate the needs of students, staff and other internal and external clients and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with people who have competing demands.

  • Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to clients and staff on matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.

  • Pro-active, able to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction and support to a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete a variety of activities to meet conflicting deadlines.

  • Demonstrated organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to details.

  • Self-motivated with a proactive and innovative approach to problem solving.

  • Competent in the use of computers.
    Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a tertiary education administration environment.

  • Knowledge and understanding of academic processes and welfare issues involved in dealing with university students.
    Work Requirement:

  • Possess own transport and a valid driving licence.
