MIRI, Nov 21 (Bernama) – Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) has temporarily stopped work on the construction of the RM10.5 million Miri Town 33kV Indoor Sub-Station in the interest of the safety and security of its employees and contractor’s workers caused by the ongoing land ownership dispute.
The construction of the indoor sub-station along Jalan Pujut-Lutong started early this year and was scheduled for commissioning by August 2018.
“Unfortunately, this will cause a delay in the timely completion of the substation,” it said in a statement, adding that it was optimistic of a speedy resolution between the authorities concerns and claimants.
The indoor sub-station, when completed, would reinforce electricity supply for the city’s central business district complementing the existing Miri Town 33kV outdoor sub-station that is more than 30 years old.
