MIRI: A proposed public face-off in Miri between Sarawak DAP secretary Alan Ling and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting has been cancelled.

The two who are facing each other in a straight fight for the Piasau seat were supposed to hold a public debate against each other at hotel here on Thursday.

The face-off was scheduled to be open to the public.

However, the campaign leaders of the two parties could not agree on the terms of the debate.

Miri DAP later said the SUPP refused to allow national issues to be part of the open debate.

Meanwhile, Miri SUPP election director Andy Chia when contacted confirmed that the debate was aborted.

He criticised the DAP for using the proposed debate for political mileage saying that it was not an honourable thing to do.
