Sarawak polls: BN reps must listen to the people, says PM

MIRI: Barisan Nasional elected representatives must feel the pulse of the rakyat and listen to the people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Speaking when launching a RM50mil interest-free loan scheme to repair or rebuild longhouse units here, he said all Barisan representatives are required to be people-oriented at all times.

“Our BN wakil rakyat feel the pulse of the rakyat.

“We listen to the rakyat and we do our best to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the rakyat.

“We in BN have the track record to show that we are sincere in wanting to meet the aspirations of the rakyat.

“That is why today I come here to launch this interest-free scheme to help those who need to repair or rebuild their longhouse units,” he said during his visit to Long Laput, about 60km from Miri.

Under the scheme, longhouse folks with less than RM3,000 household income can get interest-free loans of between RM15,000 and RM50,000 to repair their units.

Najib urged the longhouse folks to give total support to Barisan, saying their votes are crucial.

He said the Federal Government will support Team Adenan and continue to give top priority to Sarawak.

On a related matter, he said Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s move to halt the Baram Dam project should see a change in the mood of Baram voters.
