Sarawak gets 22 new police inspectors

KUCHING: The state police force has been beefed up with the posting of another 22 inspectors to its various districts.

State Commissioner of Police Deputy Comm Datuk Talib Jamal said these inspectors, who had recently completed their induction training, would be assigned to the criminal investigation department (CID), commercial crime and traffic sections.

They were present during the handing over of duties by outgoing state Special branch head SAC II Datuk Kharir Jaafar to SAC II Raja Ramle Raja Mansor at the state police officers’ mess here Thursday.

SAC Kharir has been promoted to Special Branch’s chief of assistant director (economic intelligence) in Bukit Aman.

SAC Raja Ramle was former Kedah deputy Special Branch head.

DCP Talib also announced the promotion of several senior officers.

They include Sarawak Special Branch deputy head (I) Asst Comm Aladdin Kassim who has been promoted to SAC II and has been transferred to Bukit Aman.

Supt Thoo Kin Nyian, who has been promoted to ACP, takes over as the state Special Branch deputy head (I).

Also promoted to ACP is Supt Henry Chua, who is now state Special Branch deputy head (II).

Kapit OCPD Johar Ahmad has been promoted to Supt.
