Samsung Galaxy S II

Hello, anyone has any comment about this phone? How much is it in Miri?

Its already available in Malaysia so can go for Ori instead of AP.

Price should start at Rm2099.

Maxis as usual only can purchase if u get data contract, went to pay my bills today and asked them. AP they do sell at bintang but its expensive now that local set is out.

No need to get via Maxis. Can get from lowyat seller for RM2099, original Samsung Malaysia release again.

Very keen on the phone too! Do you have any links to the Lowyat seller’s sales thread?
Many thanks

Well this thread:

I see the seller has ‘safe trader’ status, although I never order from him before but he sure got a lot of people lining up.

I think you can buy at full price from Maxis though according to their FAQ site.

I wonder if he accepts trade in with my N8 and top up to get Galaxy S 2 ?

hmmmm dual core… battery life concern.

Dude…you have to read up more on technology.

No difference. In fact, the dual core Galaxy outlast the single core Galaxy:

Video playback test

The victory was more emphatic in the dedicated video-test that we run:

Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II 8:05 h
Samsung I9000 Galaxy S 7:25 h

In case you have missed it, you can find more details about our testing ways in this post.
Screen power consumption

By the way we decided to check what difference the larger display makes, so we know how much of a deficit the Galaxy S II faces at start and heres what we found. We locked the display brightness set to 50% and auto-turn-off disabled. The battery went flat in just 11 hours and 10 minutes. Thats only 3 hours and 5 minutes longer than the video playback endurance, which suggests that the screen alone is responsible by more than half the Galaxy S II battery consumption.

For comparison the original Galaxy S did 12 hours and 35 minutes in the same still image test.
Web browsing

We also measured the endurance of the smartphone when browsing the web. The full details of the test are over here, but if you dont feel like reading them, heres a quick summary. The Galaxy S II does marginally better than its predecessor when using the stock browser as the GPU acceleration consumes some power and notably better if you use a third-party browser (Opera Mobile in our case).

Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II 4:59 h (Opera Mobile browser)
Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II 4:22 h (stock browser)
Samsung I9000 Galaxy S 4:06 h
Stand-by time

The final battery test we did was the stand-by time. With no usage whatsoever, the Galaxy S II was running for 9 days before it powered off. Now this is a decent achievement, but nowhere near the 25 days promised by Samsung.

My friend own one, he told me the battery is about 7-8 hours. (i don know how heavy is his usage). By the way, i saw a lot people take comparison between this phone and HTC sensation. Any big difference?

I read that Sensation have 7XX MB RAM as oppose to Galaxy Sii’s 1GB RAM, and despite having 1.2 dual core snapdragon it was still slower than the Galaxy SII and had some lag once in a while.

The difference between a touchphone and a normal phone is touch has more things to play on. If you treat the touch and normal the same i.e. only occasional call, sms and standby they should last pretty much the same.
