The installation of street lighting for Bekenu constituency has started in Saeh.
MIRI: The street lighting installation project involving a total of 47 villages and longhouses in Bekenu constituency has been approved.
Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus said installation works had already started.
“On behalf of the people in Bekenu constituency, I would like to thank the state government for approving the project.
“The project is being implemented in stages and those villages and longhouses yet to be listed will get to enjoy similar facilities during the implementation of the next project,” she said when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.
Rosey who is also Assistant Minister for Solidarity said installation works were currently being carried out in Saeh and Rumah Jelani areas.
“Our target through this project is to light up all the village areas, longhouses and town areas of Bekenu.
“Apart from beautifying these areas during night time, it is also to enhance security and reduce crime cases in Bekenu constituency.”
In view of this, she sought cooperation from the public to take good care of the provided street lighting and to protect the fixtures from vandalism.
