RM750,000 allocated for CIQ improvement

MIRI: The government has approved a total of RM750,000 allocation to improved the facilities at Customs and Immigration Quarantine (CIQ) Sungai Tujuh here,

Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the allocation is to instal LED signage, demolish the CIQ old building and upgrade the road surface at the CIQ Sungai Tujuh.

Johari who is also Tourism Minister added, the LED signage is needed in giving direction to the public and improving the traffic flow at the area.

“With the establishment of the LED signage it will be giving direction to the public on where to go and which counter is available. So, it will help us to improve the traffic flow effectively,” he told reporters during his visit to Sungai Tujuh CIQ yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, he said, the project will start in the near future and is expected to be done by end of March this year.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Assistant Minister of Land and Air Transportion Safety, Datuk Lee kim Shin, Piasau Assemblyman Dato Sebastian Ting, Miri Mayor Adam Yii, departments’ heads and local dignitaries.
