MIRI: Police issued 42 summonses for various traffic offences following an operation codenamed ‘Operasi Samseng Jalanan Traffik IPD Miri’ held on Saturday night at Miri city fan and Marina Park City here.
In the operation, 18 motorcycles were seized and brought to Miri traffic police station.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said their task started around 9pm and ended midnight.
“We found that the highest number of offences were related to number plates not according to specification and riding the motorcycles either without a licence or with expired licence,” he said.
He said the operation involved 12 traffic police personnel who were supported by four mobile police vehicles, a motorcycle patrol unit (MPU) and 10 volunteer police reserves.
