The Perodua Viva which was found abandoned at Pujut Parang Kerbau has been seized and is now at Miri Central Police Station (CPS Miri).
MIRI: An 11-year-old girl of a primary school here reported missing by her family has still not been found as of 11am today (Aug 17) as police intensified efforts to bring her home safely.
Miri Police Chief ACP Junaidi Bujang confirmed that the police were still on the lookout for the girl who failed to return home from school on Tuesday (Aug 16).
It was learnt that the girl was picked up from her school by a man in a Perodua Viva around noon but never reached home.
The car was later found abandoned in Pujut Padang Kerbau the same day.
The driver of the car has also been identified as the girl’s brother-in-law.
“The so-called abductor is a relative to the complainant (the girl’s elder brother who lodged the police report on the evening of Aug 16) and is a known fact that he took the girl. We are conducting further inquiries,” he said.
When asked if the girl was forced into the car, Junaidi said it was unlikely as she knew the alleged abductor.
“I have clarified the matter – she was not forced into the car because she knew the so-called abductor, as he is her brother-in-law, the husband to her immediate sister, with whom they are staying under one roof. We are not able to say whether she was willing or not,” Junaidi said.
Junaidi said that the police were investigating the case under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping.
