MIRI: The election machinery of PKR Baram is now in full gear and ready for the state election, which is expected to be called in April.

Branch secretary Dennis Along said his side had been intensifying efforts by going to the ground and meeting the electorate, especially voters in Marudi and Telang Usan.

“We have been preparing ourselves and the party’s machinery since last year but this year we are reaching out to more voters in Baram. In fact, we have lined up several meet-the-people programmes in these two state constituencies (Marudi and Telang Usan) throughout this month,” he said here yesterday.

Dennis said PKR received the permit to conduct programmes in Beluru and Lapok bazaars, bringing the party’s candidates Roland Engan and Elia Bit for Telang Usan and Marudi, respectively.

“This is a month-long programme where we go back and forth between Beluru, Lapok and Marudi – giving speeches, talks and distribute flyers to the people.”

Dennis said the team went to Beluru in Bakong on Thursday and Lapok in Tinjar on Friday.

According to him, they would be in Beluru every Wednesday throughout this month (Feb 17 and 24), Lapok every Friday (Feb 12, 19 and 26) and Marudi on Saturdays, Feb 13 and 27.

“As for the Chinese New Year programme, PKR

Baram would host our open house gathering in

Marudi on Feb 13,” he said.
