MIRI: PKR Baram has dismissed Council of Leaders’ objection to the setting up of Village Community Management Council (MPKK).
Its Baram branch chairman Roland Engan said the party was committed to materialising MPKK according to the dateline prescribed by the Ministry of Rural Development.
It was reported earlier that the Council of Elders from Baram and Belaga were against the setting up of MPKKs in Orang Ulu villages.
According to Roland, PKR Baram was also committed to working together with all quarters, including the Council of Elders to realise the setting up of MPKKs in all villages in the Baram.
The MPKKs shall not threaten unity, relationship and peace in the villages, and shall not affect the Orang Ulu customs, he told a press conference here yesterday, which was also attended by Miri MP Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng, and head of PKR Baram Youth Wing Elia Bit.
