BINTULU: This year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai celebrations would be a bit merrier for some 1,200 families here and in Miri – thanks to Petronas.

The national oil and gas corporation, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm Yayasan Petronas and principal marketing arm Petronas Dagangan Bhd, had given away essential food items and Petronas Mesra Gift Cards to these families recently, under its signature ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ programme.

The aid recipients comprised about 200 low-income households in Bintulu, 900 needy families in Miri, as well as 100 families and also healthcare and enforcement frontliners in various settlements across Baram such as Long Seridan, Long Kevok, Long Bedian, Telang Usan, Long Lama, Beluru, Marudi, Long Laput, Long Teran Batu and Long Tabing.

Petronas staff members deliver the essential food items to a B40 family in Bintulu.

These contributions were distributed by teams from the Welfare Department (JKM) on behalf of Petronas and its subsidiary companies, namely Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd-Sarawak Oil, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd-Sarawak Gas, Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd and Asean Bintulu Fertilizer Sdn Bhd.

Petronas Dagangan’s station dealers in Bintulu, as well as the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline project team also assisted in the distribution of the food packages.

‘Sentuhan Kasih’ is part of Yayasan Petronas’ CSR programmes activated during major festive seasons in Malaysia.
