Pensioners association seeks funding to repair building

MIRI: The Sarawak Pensioners Association here needs fund to repair its premises at Piasau Camp.

Chairman of the local branch Dennin Fredericks said due to damaged ceiling and faulty wiring, members had to stop using the building, which has been the associations local office for over the past
14 years.

Now we desperately need funding to engage contractors and have them repair the ceiling and wiring system.

Even if these works are done, we still need money to reconnect electricity and water supply to the premises, he stated during a courtesy call on Miri Resident Antonio Kahti Galis here yesterday.

Apart from the ceiling and wiring system, Dennin said other facilities in the premises such as toilets, kitchen cabinets and glass windows were also broken.

According to him, the project to repair the premises is one of the agenda under the branchs campaign to boost membership, as pushed forth by its new exco committee.

Currently, the branch has about 400 members from here, Bekenu, Niah and Marudi.

On his side, Antonio told the committee that he would help in forwarding the matter to relevant agencies.
