PBPM Miri to publish book on cases handled by members

MIRI: Ex-Police Association (PBPM) Miri branch plans to publish a collection of stories on several incidents that involved its members during their tenure of service as police personnel.

Its chairman Han Hipeni said the stories would be based on the members’ experience and perspective in dealing with and solving community related police cases.

“We are planning to compile a collection of non-communist stories such as the tragedy of Pulau Kidjang, the plane crash at Long Seridan and even the blockade in Kapit as well as Baram.

“By doing this, we hope members of the public will know the role of police personnel in solving the cases and the challenges and difficulties faced by the police during investigation works,” he said when met during the PBPM Miri appreciation night in conjunction with Merdeka Day at the association’s office premises in Piasau Camp recently.

Han said the book idea was the association’s initiative to coincide with the association’s 23rd anniversary celebration in October this year.

“The association was set up on October 15, 1996 and in conjunction with our 23rd anniversary this year, we want to do something different for our anniversary celebration.”

He said the Ex-Police Association Sarawak has produced a book on Border Scouts and Police Field Force.

“I was 33 years in Crime Investigation Department (CID). Of course, there are many things that are not published in newspapers. What we are going to share is more on our ground experience in handling the cases.”

On the anniversary celebration, he said the association had lined up various activities throughout October such as visiting places of interest as well as fund raising dinner and organising a patriotic and nostalgic singing competition.

The association, he added, will work closely with P. Ramlee Nusantara Fan Club of Brunei Darussalam to make the singing competition a success.
