MIRI: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sarawak has congratulated Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) following the coalition’s official launching on Saturday.
Sarawak PAS commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said PAS Sarawak supports the GPS government’s decision to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) and stay out of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“The political situation today requires a composite of many approaches and the new political arena as taken by GPS,” Jofri said.
He said GPS’ approach is necessary to ensure the interests of Sarawakians at all levels are taken care of.
“Sarawak is often used as a model of unity in Malaysia and must continue to uphold the peace, living in harmony and unity among the multiracial and multi-religious communities here,” he said.
PAS Sarawak also called on GPS to improve weaknesses in the administrative system, to listen to and fulfill the people’s aspirations at grassroots level irrespective of race and religion, and to ensure no party is marginalised.
Jofri added PAS Sarawak would work together to develop Sarawak and ensure there are checks and balances so that the Sarawak government is fair to all people in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
