MIRI: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has called on the state government to catch stray dogs in areas here.
PAS Sarawak commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said the government should take immediate action to prevent the disease from spreading to other areas in the state.
“PAS is concerned about the rabies disease and calls for pets crossing the border into the state and airports to be checked thoroughly,” he told The Borneo Post Thursday.
“People who keep dogs as pets need to have them checked by animal doctors to ensure these animals are safe from the disease and the safety of residents living in their areas.”
He said pet dogs should also be kept from wandering in parks without supervision.
