MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) yesterday announced an inaugural public award for outstanding members of the public here in conjunction with Visit Miri Year (VMY) this year.
Its mayor Adam Yii said the award is in recognition of those who have contributed much to the community and voluntary programmes beneficial to the people.
“Many individuals and groups here are known for their active participation in various community projects and programmes.
“They have dedicated their times and resources to community projects, thus making this city a better place to live and work in. It is a valuable asset for transforming Miri into a vibrant, green and most liveable resort city,” he told a press conference at his office here.
The award is divided into three categories; environment, safety and security, and tourism promotion. Each category has four sub-groups – individual, group, organisation/association, NGO, and private sector.”
It is open to everyone living in Miri Division.
The nomination forms are now available, and are obtainable through Miri Apps (www.miriapp.com), MCC official website (http://www.miricouncil.gov.my) or at its public relations section.
Completed forms and the necessary supporting documents have to be submitted to the council before March 31.
The award presentation will be held during Miri May Fest 2018 at a date to be determined later.
