MIRI: Nurul Izzah Mukhali brought pride to SMK Agama Miri (SMKAMi) by winning the Tilawah Qiraat Sab’ah Bittarum at a School Missionary Carnival (KDSS) at Bangi Islamic Teachers Institute in Selangor recently.
The Form 5 student received a trophy, prizes and certificate of participation for being the champion. The prizes were presented by director of Islamic Education for Ministry of Education Malaysia, Wan Ramzan Wan Mamat.
School principal Ahmad Fauzi Yaakob said the national level carnival formerly known as Schools Al-Quran Recital Competition was organised by the Ministry of Education.
“Last year, the champion of a similar category was won by our school’s male participant. We are happy the school is once again champion in the same category this year.” The school’s nasyid team has been selected to present Sarawak for three consecutive years in the carnival.
