Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Promotion of Technical Education) Datu Len Talif Salleh said there is no need for new educational institution to be established in Samariang as the constituency now has five educational institutions.
He said they are the three public vocational training centres, namely, MARA, Kuching Community College and Malaysia Construction Academy and the two private institutions Twintech College and Multimedia College.
“These five educational institutions can accommodate the needs of the locals and also people from Kuching and Samarahan,” he said in his reply to Samariang Assemblywomen Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.
Therefore, there is no plan to open new institution in Samariang at the moment, added Len.
Meanwhile, Assistant of Local Government Datuk John Sikie Anak Tayai said a total of 75 street lights will be installed at Taman Tuanku and Taman Jelita, which will involve an estimated cost of RM1 million. This will be implemented once the allocation is approved.
He also said the local council in Miri had installed two LED Floodlight. He said this in response to the question of Lambir Assemblymen Ripin Lamat.
