Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi
MIRI: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is keeping his option open on whether to contest for the senior vice-president post in the coming triennial delegates conference on Feb 9 to 11, this year.
Asked if he would accept nominations from branches for him to contest for the post, the Kapit MP replied: “I am open to any nomination but I will decide whether to accept it or not when the time comes.”
Nanta, who is Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, was responding to a speculation that he may contest for the post as incumbent senior vice-president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is expected to be elevated to become a deputy president together Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
PBB president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg recently said that the two posts of deputy president in PBB will not be contested in the coming party convention. Awang Tengah and Uggah are currently acting deputy presidents.
Nanta had earlier attended a briefing at Public Works Department Miri Division conference room on the proposed upgrading of 199 kilometre of non-active logging roads in Baram by his ministry.
