MIRI: Naim Land Sdn. Bhd’s fire-fighting team here helped to put out a bush fire which started a few days ago in Kuala Baram.

The team, comprising 26 staff volunteers, were deployed to the site to help the authorities put out the bushfire.

The team faced various challenges such as extreme weather conditions and a strong wind while attempting to put out the bushfire.

Naim’s Assistant General Manager for Property, Abang Mahathir Mohamed explained that Naim Miri formed its fire-fighting team more than 10 years ago as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

He added that the fire-fighting team was also equipped with basic fire-fighting equipment to assist authorities to fight fires wherever required.

He added that one of the equipment with added value to the team’s fire-fighting efforts was the drone.

‘We use the drone to monitor our site and the areas surrounding it. With the drone, we are able to view happenings on ground in real time and respond to them.

“This has added great value to our operations, especially in terms of emergency responses,’ he said.

‘Our team was the first to arrive at the incident venue, which was an area next to our development site.

“To prevent further harm, we immediately deployed our staff to help put out the fire.

“At this juncture, we would like to thank Zone 6’s Fire Chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong for his great co-ordination, his team and all concerned for their effort,” Mahathir added.

He explained that Naim’s fire-fighting team conducted regular inspections and patrols not only within its development site but also the surrounding areas.

“In fact, the frequency of such patrols is increased during the dry season due to high possibility of wildfires in areas such as Kuala Baram,” Mahathir said.
