‘Most-wanted Miri criminal’ arrested

MIRI: Police have arrested a local man, believed to be “the most-­wanted criminal”, for involvement in various crimes in the district.

Miri district police chief Asst Comm Lim Meng Seah said the 30-year-old suspect was arrested at 12.15pm on Saturday at a house in Jalan Taman Piasau, where police also found stolen property.

“With the arrest, the police are confident of solving 15 house break-in cases as well as vehicle theft in Miri,” he said in a statement.

The suspect has been remanded for a week to assist in investigations.

ACP Lim said the recovered items included MyKad and credit cards, and tools used for house break-in and theft.

Police are trying to track down the suspect’s accomplices. — Bernama
