IPOH: A policeman who whipped out his pistol to resist arrest by Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) officers is in for more trouble.
Not only is the ACA is investigating the corporal for corruption, the police have also initiated a probe on the policeman for assault and misuse of firearm.
Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said police were investigating the policeman, in his 40s, for obstructing the ACA officers from discharging their duty.
On Thursday, the agency received a tip-off that the policeman, who was near the Pasir Putih petrol station, had accepted a RM1,000 bribe to help settle a crime case.
When several ACA officers arrived at the petrol station to arrest him, the policeman whipped out his pistol at the arresting officers before flagging down a policeman on a motorcycle and heading straight for the Pasir Putih police station.
They arrested the suspect at the police station.
The policeman was released on RM5,000 bail at 4pm yesterday after his statement was recorded at the state ACA office here.
The policeman was taken into a waiting police car with his face covered by a jacket to shield him from press photographers.
