MIRI: Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) contributed RM38,000 in financial aid to three mosques and 35 suraus in Bekenu District on Thursday.
The contribution distributed through Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS) Miri was presented by Bekenu MP Ahmad Lai Bujang
at Surau Ibadah of Kampung Kejapil Bekenu.
According to the head of TBS Miri, Marini Juraibi, the contribution was given to the surau and mosque management committees to run religious activities during the month of Ramadan.
The three mosques were Al-Muttaqin Mosque (Kampung Dagang), Jihadullah Mosque (Kampung Pejuang Kelulit and Sinaran Mosque (Kampung Ranchah-Ranchah).
Among the surau recipients were Surau Al Azim (Kampung Gatas), Surau Al Mukmin (Kampung Terahad), Surau An Nur (Kampung Selanyau),
Surau Darul Hidayah (Kampung Bulau), Surau Darul Iman (Kampung Jengalas ), Surau Darul Madinah (Kampung Kuala Sibuti), Surau Darul Rahmah (Kampung Padang Kelulit), Surau Darul Ridzuan (Kampung Keluru Tengah),
Surau Darul Taqwa (Kampung Jambu Bungai), Surau Darul Hikmah (Kampung Sulap Lada Kelulit) and Surau Darussalam (Kampung Angus).
Ahmad Lai also presented a contribution from Intellectual Property Corporation Malaysia (MyIPO) worth RM15,000 to
all the recipients who also received his contribution of kurma fruits.
The presentation ceremony ended with the breaking of fast followed by Maghrib prayers.
Also present was the Northern Region assistant director-general for Islamic Religious Department (Jais) Miri Division, Jamaludin Taim.
