MIRI: The Sikh community here has voiced its support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Sikh Association Miri (SAM) president Narmal Singh said the community has been inspired by and is confident of the state Barisan Nasional (BN).
“We are thankful to the state government for this able leadership. We hope the same spirit of inclusive and progressive development will be upheld in years to come,” he told a press conference yesterday.
He said Adenan’s leadership and policies are people-friendly.
Recalling the association’s 15th anniversary celebration in 2005, he said Adenan had spoken at length on the history of Sikhs in Sarawak and their contributions to the state.
“While we support Adenan’s policies of good governance to benefit all races in the state, we also trust the government will appreciate the contributions of the Sikhs in the state,” said Narmal.
Also present at the press conference were SAM deputy president and Sikh Temple president Gurmokh Singh, SAM secretary-general Pardeep Singh Sangha as well as committee members Manmohan Singh and Karam Singh Pannu.
