Miri Police Detain Man In Domestic Violence Case

MIRI, April 17 (Bernama) — Police detained a man yesterday for allegedly beating up his wife after she repeatedly asked him why he did not come home for several days.

Miri police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat in a statement here today said the suspect aged 26 was believed to have assaulted his 24-year-old wife at 11.30am the same day.

“It started when the victim kept asking her husband why he did not come home for several days and why the car he was driving was involved in an accident. The suspect became incensed and started kicking things and smashed a table.”

After the incident, Khoo said, the man brought his wife to a clinic but told her to lie to the doctor that her bruises were caused by a fall.

“The victim could no longer tolerate her husband s constant abusive behaviour and lodged a police report. We will apply for a remand order on him today,” he added…..
