Last nite around 10.30pm, i sent my dad for emergency case for food poisoning. He has difficulties to breath coz wanted to vomit but it kindda stuck in the chest. I went to counter and pay RM1 and asked to wait. but my dad went inside and was place in a bed. We waited for more than 30 minutes for help to come. Without no oxygen tank or any assistance for difficulties breathing aid, it was very hard for dad but eventually he tahan. I have to ask one of the nurse to check up my dad and she do that without hesitation.
Then came a medical assistant, he tried to poke the vein to insert the drip but he missed it and wanted to try 2nd time. My dad got angry n say something upset him. He just packed his glove and stuffs walked away!! Leaving the drip just like that. We have to wait another 30 minutes for another nurse to take of my dad. She came and insert the drip one time and painfulless.
I wonder how they acted to certain cases. One old lady was brought by ambulance and nothing serious. Just pengsan at home. She was taken care by at least TWO medical assistance at one time. I have to ask around to look for doctor or medical assistance, and ONLY then they will check the patients. One poor lady was left for 2 hours alone the the A&E, she was complaining pains in her abdomen. I think it was apendic. Two solid hours just lying on the floor and tahan sakit.
I only came home at 1.30am. With these kind of services no wonder my friend’s dad died of heart attack sometime ago. He can be saved but was left unattended at A&E. Waiting for doctor for tooo long. Only one doctor in charge for nite shift. We just poor people can affort to go GH instead of expensive fancy private hospital.
Service in the GH is always below the star…don’t know why it is like tat. I think if we have someone in this community that knows any of the big guns of the state, maybe can help us raise this issue to them and make some improvement la on our GH services since that we are now a city status. Surely everything kena upgrade and improve la.
Chil…I hope everything went well for ur daddy as well.
Such cases owest happen in GH - poor services, no wonder most of d public dislikes gettin GH treatment…trauma!!! Bt wat 2 do, nt everybody cn afford private hospital…
The last time I was there, there was confusion as to where to go to, where to wait, and what to do. I think they need more competetent people around helping those waiting.
READ: COMPETENT!!
You should also report the person who left the drip. I don’t think I want people like him to attend to people in emergency situations. People like this can be charged with murder should the patient die.

Chil, not only at Miri Hospital, here SGH in Kuching also same thing, my mum kena mistreatment last year. They mess wif the wrong person & kena complain teruk up to the public complaints bureau level hehe
If it is not for my mum SGH never improve til now.
Kena both. Dah lah diagnose with appendicitis. The stupid medical assistant (not doctor man!) did not check the wounds after surgery thus making the wound septic. Plus some mistreatment by rude nurses, luckily my cousin a senior nurse there willing to work overtime to help jaga my mum. 2 times kena operate. The 2nd time was the one when my parents raised an official complaint to the complaints bureau, the hospital, unimas & the health ministry.
people, U think private hospital any better…same one lah. Just that have to pay more only. Wat i hate most is that this ppl do things different to other ppl. If u r some big shot…do u think u have this problem? Be it GH or private hospital?
Wat can politicians do? they here and go every 5 years. staffs in hospitals are there for the long duration. What government should have or do is enforce the regulations…sack any staffs that is in the wrong. Then see whether they will improve or not.
Everyone has a bad day…but they should not take it out on the patients.
Yeah…i too had the same experience just last week. i went to GH at around 8:30pm with my 9 mth old son. He had develop some rash or viral infection on his face and body. After registering at the counter and paid rm1, i’ve waited about half an hour before going in for the inspection. The doctor on duty is not sure if its measels or just some allergy to a vaccine shot. So he ordered for an x-ray and blood test. My son is having fever so he is really grumpy for the restless night before, xray part is ok…the part i kesian is when there try to poke da needle to get some blood for testing. 1st da left hand poke twice then on right hand tried once… my son was crying da hold time and i can do anything to calm him down…the 2 missy said they cant seems to find da veins…so in the end the doctor talk to me whether i want to put him in ward or bring back and i decided to bring my son back home rather than putting him in a ward after seeing how that 2 missy tried to find da veins. went home around 12 midnight…next day go there again for review and my son condition was improved. Thank god.
No offence but I think most general hospitals suxx. I still remember the case where my late grandfather was admitted to the ICU (Kuching) but I don’t want to elaborate more on that. It’s just that everything now needs money to make sure it works smoothly (swasta punya hospital).
Ok, let me explain a bit:
Full of training/practical nurses/doctors (setahun jagung).
First injection to the blood vessel was unsuccessful, second as well until the third time (omg).
my dad okay sudah…but MC…big mistake i dun take medic course last time…the VIP or the big gun should menyamar and try the service at GH lar…
I dun remember the name but surely ingat the face sampai bila2…langgar lari sama dia
Geez, lucky ur dad is okay now. No need to blame urself for that lar fren. I faced the same situation before too.
I shouted at them when I lost patience with them last time. I’m not a easy goin type when facing this kind of situation. Sometime I really think that they treat us as beggar when we needed their help.
Advice from my family doctor,“if you have serious medical emergency like heart attack, serious head injuries, etc, head staright to Miri Genaral Hospital. They have the best equipments which private hospital in Miri may lack”.
With all the comments about Government hospital in this forum,I feel we should make the right decision when it comes to life and death.

Ryabren… i think they are not really capable and that’s why they got jammed when comes to emergency situation…
Just complaint in th newspaper like Bornoe Post…Im sure the assemblymen like YB Lee Kim Shan will ‘masuk campur’…Biar the Miri Hospital management ‘kena bomb’ by the government… The security guards there pun rude-rude…Kurang ajar. As if they didn’t learn moral in school. My grandpa go visit my relatives that are warded in the hospital, then kena halau by the security guards…so only my mom manage to went in…If dont want to disturb the patients, make heavily fortified ward for patients who doesn’t want visitors…End of the story…
