MIRI: The police and immigration authorities carried out a swoop this morning in a private hospital construction project site and found dozens of foreign illegal workers there.
Some 41 Indonesian men and women were arrested in the swoop, along with two China men suspected to be their “pelindung” (protector).
The 10am swoop carried out on Wednesay (March 14) was part of an ongoing operation to weed out illegals from overseas who are working in Sarawak without permits.
Those arrested have been placed in the immigration depot detention centre for further actions to be taken against them, which could include deportation.
The Miri police headquarters confirmed the arrests.
