Miri Commercial Developments

Ok this page has been dead for a while but look what I stumbled across today! some of you may have already seen it but let me share…

Ok I’m rather lazy to copy the pictures, store it in photobucket and post it here!

But here are the highlights:
(1) Miri International School from kindergarten till year 12. This is for mainly expats children i presume. It would have teachers from overseas and follows international syllabus.
(2) Miri Sekolah Wawasan
(3) Shell Condominium
(4) TESCO hypermarket in MIRI at the proposed Senadin Hypermall. There would be 248 shophouses and 1.5 Million-2 million square feet mall (which is 4 times larger than expanded Bintang Plaza!..same developer). Looking at the pictures in there, it looks like the mall has a new concept by the waterfront , kind of not building upwards but sideways like Australian malls. :smiley: …only 3 storeys high. One of the pictures labelled “Greenbelt 3 CINEMAS” WOO-HOO!

There are a lot of pictures in the link I provided and the mall looks really good. With the expressway connecting Airport to ASEAN bridge, it looks like this development might just be accelerated. I found this link at the bintang plaza website, it is just recently uploaded there.

I wonder why Miri developments never advertise like those in Kuching. But looks like with Merdeka mall, Bintang plaza expansion, and maybe imperial expansion, Miri will go through another phase of commercial developments.

i guess it’ll soon be time for me to leave my beloved miri.
it’s no longer ulu the way i like it.
if i like shopping malls, i would have chosen to work in singapore, instead of coming back to miri. furthermore, there will be no self-serving politicians and robber barons there to make my blood boil…

TESCO is coming…if it is true, let’s hope that it was own or co-own by none of those “legal gangster/mafia”…

i well come any FDI (foreign Direct Investment) into miri. we really need those ppl to come and create favorable condition for the a lot of mirian out there…

Whatever, if Careffour, or anything else come to Miri then it will be certainly great!

dont think so it will be located at senadin…the best place for tesco is beside eastwood valley there… have anyone here been to melaka or negeri sembilan or other state?? do u notice that tesco is located quite a distance from town…
i mean having their own building for the whole business…

Yeah, they are somehow like servay, always only USE THE WHOLE BUILDING to do business…

I saw one Tesco at Ampang few months ago, which is so HUGE like what… so damn big le…

if tesco or carrefour open in miri, maybe servay can close down for business liaw lor…i think the only one which can still survive is boulevard hyper…

We will see a very fierce competition between and Servay and “whoever” when Merdeka Mall opens for business at 2009…

Oh I am waiting for that day…

they can survive also becos they have “the money”…

I hate Servey…can’t wait for a proper supermarket to come to town…long overdue

I must reiterate the word “proposed” before everyone gets too excited (it may never happen). I think Senadin would be a good location for a nice suburban mall to decentralise Miri City to ease congestions. Afterall it would also ease the competition to get shoppers since Permyjaya and Senadin people would naturally prefer to go there considering its nearer. Senadin population now over 30,000 and Permyjaya over 40,000 + Curtin students+expats from proposed shell condo, international school.

Lets hope it happens…though just a plan for now. I hope TESCO comes too!

wait for tonite toto n 4d result come out. i would develop super mini hyper market in Senadin area. :slight_smile:

i agreed with george…hoped that no shopping complex become like wisma pelita and oil town…

dont forget what happened to ngiu kee,servay at mega(including soon hup nowadays) ever rise,m2,miri plaza(before take over by servay)

for me no need for more shopping complexes etc etc…mirian enough with what we have today…if you go to kk you will see what happened…they build so big shopping complex like that and like that …here and there

but,for years,empty shop houses…like miri there is only about 200,000 people…but when they have more than their neccsity…what will happened? just look at wisma pelita and oil town…for me no need to build more bigger shopping complexes etc…just upgrade what we have today…

Yea… i totally agree… why not just renovate the old buildings and turn it into something newer, better, and exciting.
Soon Hup tower… Tat place can be a strategic place if proper managements is done to it.
Oil town… That place oso strategic. City center ler… No proper management again.
Wisma Pelita. Well, for this building i think the management is still struggling hard to make this building survive. Well done. Now, i think is nam leong using the building. IF its 4/5 years back its good for the people staying on canada hill. But now all have moved…
m2… heard that boulevard going to buy over that building to make a it outlet. the news is 2 yrs old oredi.

Check out the new building, still under construction, for my future automotive business in Miri.

FYI, this is the ONLY legal commercial building along the Tudan-Kuala Baram highway. :smiley: managed to turn the agriculture land to commercial land. Took about 8-10 years in application.

yeah, it was delayed due to the change of contractor. had a bit of problems with the previous one.

I’m not the contractor =.=. The showroom/factory will be my future business premise. So there’s no unit for sale.
