Miri Biovalley Park operational in June – Awg Tengah

KUCHING: The RM60. 6 million Miri Biovalley Park will be fully operational in June.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the project would greatly assist the local industries, especially the small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) on completion.

“Miri Biovalley Park is physically completed by end of this month, and will be fully operational by June.

“It will then be handed over to Sarawak Research and Development Council under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research,” he said in his winding-up speech yesterday.

He said the park would support the development of new products and processes especially bio-based products, and provide pilot facilities to assist industries in their production at pilot scale.

The park would also provide high quality testing and development facilities in the form of product analysis, enhancement and quality assurance, provide facilities for incubators, and provide contract research and training for the industry and research agencies.

For the Sibu Industrial Park, Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, said a state land had been acquired with all the design and documentation completed in May, and was ready for the tender process.

Awang Tengah also told the august House that seven projects had been completed under the 11th Malaysian Plan, which are Miri Biovalley Park, Sama Jaya Extension Phase 5, Demak Laut Industrial Park (phase 2B stage 1 and 2), access road to Demak Laut Industrial Park, Tebedu Industrial Park, Marudi Industrial Park (phase I) and upgrading works for Rantau Panjang Industrial Park (phase I) in Sibu.

He added that the Kapit Industrial Park (phase II) would be completed by end of May, while the physical works for industrial parks in Betong is 69.1 per cent completed, Demak Laut phase 2B (20.89 per cent), Samalaju SME clusters (47.57 per cent) and Sri Aman at 42.57 per cent.
