Million-ringgit grant from CM ‘windfall’ for Chinese education

MIRI: The announcement of a RM4-million allocation for 14 Chinese independent schools across the state is deemed a windfall by the Chinese community here.

For local Chinese businessman Anthony Ling, things seem to be in order and well-organised since Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem took state leadership a year ago.

As far as distribution of grants goes, it has been fair and equal thanks to the chief minister, he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Ling also viewed Adenan as a very understanding man one who is fair to all, irrespective of race and religion.

He has no issue with the word Allah being used by the Christians. He is brave in stopping religious extremists from coming into Sarawak to avloid
offending the local Christian community.

According to Ling, Adenan is truly a no-fuss leader who really embodies the true concept of 1Malaysia.

We, the Chinese, are grateful to him for all that he has done for the community above all, for his RM4 million allocation for Chinese independent schools in the state.

It is indeed a big ang pow, Ling quipped.
