Men arrested for possessing samurai sword

MIRI: Two men were arrested at Jalan Jati 2F, Senadin after midnight yesterday for possessing a samurai sword.

Police first spotted the duo, aged 27 and 35, acting suspiciously in a car parked by the roadside.

When the men realised they were under police surveillance, they tried to escape on foot but were caught.

During a search of the vehicle, police discovered the samurai sword.

They were later brought to the Miri Central police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, police patrolling Jalan Jati also spotted two men sitting on a motorcycle without a license plate parked by the roadside.

A check on the motorcycle’s chassis and engine number revealed that it was reported stolen on Aug 25 in Bintulu.

The two men aged 24 and 32 were arrested and brought to the Miri Central police station to assist with the investigation.
