MIRI: Miri City, the country’s first non-state capital town to be elevated to city status, is studying the possibility of incorporating the Smart City concept with services provided by Telekom Malaysia (TM).
Miri City Mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang said there were many areas the Miri City Council (MCC) and TM could possibly work together such as the implementation of a smart parking system, smart traffic lights system and smart street lighting system.
Yii said MCC was also working together with state-owned Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services provider, Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (Sains), to provide a similar concept for the city.
“We hope for more discussions with TM to prioritise our wishlists on Smart City systems,” he said after a briefing on the Smart City concept by TM, here, yesterday.
Norresah Abu Samah, head of Strategic Account at Vads Lyfe, a wholly-owned unit of TM, gave the one-hour briefing attended by the city’s councillors. – Bernama
