Longhouse invites former rep to launch new site

MIRI: Lepong Ajai longhouse folk invited former Marudi assemblyman and assistant minister Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran to officiate at the Ngintu Tabak ceremony for their new longhouse site yesterday.

Headman Anthony Ladi said Entri was invited because he contributed a lot to the villagers and constituency over the last 20 years.

“We wish to thank Datuk Entri for his assistance towards helping the people of Lepong Ajai acquire the land and earth-filling and also to the community in Marudi. We hope for his well-being in his future undertakings,” he said in his speech.

Anthony said Entri had allocated a RM250,000 grant to the longhouse for earth-filling the new site last year.

“He fulfilled his promise to assist us and we thank him for his continuous efforts by giving him the honour to officiate (at the event).”

Anthony added that the longhouse folk would apply for the Ministry of Housing’s housing loan scheme.

Meanwhile, Entri thanked the Lepong Ajai folk for the invitation even though he is no longer Marudi assemblyman.

“I’m happy with the cooperation of the longhouse folk to pursue their longhouse and urge them to continue supporting the present BN (Barisan Nasional) government,” he said.

Entri added that he would continue to contribute to the people even though he is no longer an assemblyman.
