BARAM: The Penan community of Long Tujang, Apoh here have been urged to give their support to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem in the coming state election so that there will be more developments in Sarawak, especially in Telang Usan.

Telang Usan Assemblyman Dennis Ngau made the call when officiating at the newly completed 400-meters village road in Kampung Long Tujang, Sungai Apoh, Baram recently. At the same function, he also talked about the government’s effort to upgrade Long Lama to full district called Telang Usan district with Long Bedian, Bario and Mulu becoming sub-districts.

“This is to bring government services closer to the people in the very rural area,” he said, while at the same time advising the people to see the real development brought by Barisan Nasional (BN) Government as against only empty promises by the opposition.

The village road project by Barisan Nasional delivered through the effort of Dennis clearly brought joy to the 60-door Penan village which has a population of about 400 people. Long Tujang village is about five hours’ drive by 4WD from Miri.

TK Alung Jok, the headman of Long Tujang, thanked Dennis for working hard to bring development projects to his kampung. Dennis, he said, had visited his longhouse many times since 2011.

He urged all the Penans to support Dennis in the coming state election as he had been confirmed as BN candidate to stand in Telang Usan.

The function, attended by more than 300 people, was organised by Women Movement of PBB N.77 Telang Usan Apoh branch.

Other programmes held were telematch for the kampung folks, giving away of government minor rural projects (MRP) grants to SIB Church Long Tujang which received RM10,000, SIB Church Long Buang (RM10,000), Panel Klinik Long Bemang (RM10,000).

Among those at the event were SAO Ezra Uda and Pemanca Henesser Uning Bong.
